Hello, my name is Louise Hunt and I am a professional therapist in Northampton.
I specialise in cognitive behavioural and mindfulness therapy.

Where it all began…
At the age of 15, I was diagnosed with Glandular Fever. I experienced fever, aching joints, sore throat and glands and chronic fatigue. I was too tired to study or socialise. The virus and symptoms would reoccur when I was busy or stressed and would only improve after a week of rest. I learnt to cope and recognised the signs to avoid becoming too poorly.

At the age of 20, I had the job of my dreams. Although I had lots of responsibility, worked very long hours and had no free time, I loved it! Unfortunately my body didn’t…I ignored the recurring symptoms of the virus and my body eventually shut down.

This time, I started to suffer from cognitive difficulties, became sensitive to light and sounds, experienced digestive disturbances and other characteristic symptoms. I was subsequently diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or otherwise known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS) or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). To top it off, I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which was responsible for the chronic muscle, nerve and joint pain!

Life was a struggle…
After being diagnosed with the different conditions, everyday was a struggle. I spent up to 16 hours a day sleeping only to wake up feeling unrefreshed and wanting more. The time I spent awake was unbearable and I longed for the day that I would feel just a little bit better. This drastically changed my life and the course of it. My quality of life was extremely poor and I became heavily dependent on my parents’ care. After trying every treatment under the sun such as bowen, acupuncture, reflexology, homeopathy, massages and ‘Tenns’ machine I only felt worse.

Social interacting with people became incredibly challenging, I suffered from brain fog, lack of confidence and depression. Being so inactive, I also began to gain weight which did not help with my already spiralling confidence issues. Having both ME and Fibromyalgia, two conditions that are not very well known, people found it hard to understand.

The breakthrough came when I visited a Nutritionist. After 3 weeks of following the advice, I began to feel a small increase in energy. This was HUGE result. I started to rebuild my confidence, lose weight and further treatments started to seriously improve my health.

I then came across Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Although there was no ‘quick fix’ for my conditions – a combination of CBT and disciplined nutrition were the ‘key’ to coping with my illnesses.

After coming on a very long journey, I was inspired to take advanced courses in ‘Nutrition’ and ‘Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioural’ therapy.
Today, I am healthy and back enjoying all aspects of my life. I strive to give my clients the necessary support, coaching and tools they need to improve the quality of their own lives!
